About Me
I am an experienced educator and careers specialist with over 12 years’ experience supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds to achieve strong post-18 outcomes, including university and degree apprenticeships. As a former Director of Sixth Form, I have worked closely with hundreds of students and families throughout the application journey, including those applying to competitive universities and pathways.
My approach is supportive, structured and non-judgemental. I focus on building clarity, confidence and high-quality applications, ensuring each student is able to achieve the best possible outcome for their goals. I listen carefully, provide clear guidance, and challenge students where needed — combining genuine encouragement with high expectations.

A wide market, but competitive outcomes
University offers a broad range of opportunities, with hundreds of providers and large numbers of students entering higher education each year. However, the most sought-after graduate opportunities are concentrated within a much smaller and highly competitive market.
This is why choosing well, building relevant experience, and developing a strong application profile early can make such a significant difference.

Fewer openings, but a clearer route
Degree apprenticeships can offer a highly structured pathway, combining paid work, professional experience and an employer-funded degree. For the right student, they can provide direct progression into a career from day one.
However, the entry market is much smaller and the selection process is often highly competitive, with applications, online tests, interviews and assessment centres. This makes preparation, professionalism and clear motivation especially important.

Choosing the right pathway
University and degree apprenticeships can both lead to excellent outcomes, but they work in very different ways. University usually offers broader academic choice, greater flexibility and time to develop interests before entering the graduate market. Degree apprenticeships are more directly linked to employment, but places are fewer and the selection process is often more immediate and competitive.
The best route depends on the student: their interests, strengths, confidence, subject choices, working style and long-term goals. My role is to help students and families make sense of these options, weigh up the opportunities and challenges, and build a clear plan for moving forward.
I support applicants to choose well, prepare early and present themselves strongly — whether they are applying for university, degree apprenticeships, or considering both.

Who I Work With
